Per statute, the copy fee for a court record document obtained at any county level court in Georgia has increased from $.25 to $.50. A similar increase took place in New Mexico, where the $.50 copy fee was raised to $.75.

Los Angeles Courts

Los Angeles County announced severe cutbacks in court locations and services, including the following:
•    17 Courtrooms will be closed
•    The fifth floor clerk's office at the Clara Foltz Criminal Justice Center (also known as the Criminal Courts building) will be closed. Cashier functions, criminal background checks, criminal case file requests and certification will only be available at the second floor clerk's office.
•    Employer, or "bulk" criminal name searches will no longer be available at the Criminal Courts Building; they will be performed at courthouses handling criminal cases but will be processed along with all other clerical requests, delaying service response time.

Arizona Justice Courts

A huge inconsistency among the Arizona Justice Courts for fees charged still exists. There is a mandated fee of $24 that the Justice Courts will charge to do a name search. But there is no mandated fee when the public asks for a specific case file. However, at least 28 or 1/3 of the Justice Courts charge an additional $24 to pull a record file when a specific case number or docket number is given. The charge can be based on a per case or per name basis, or at the discretion of the clerk. This interpretation is not per the guidelines of the Administrative Offices of the Courts (AOC) and is not the procedure followed in the AZ Superior Courts. Reportedly, the AOC is considering implementation of a statewide fee schedule/regulation on limited jurisdiction courts. Thanks to the folks at PDQ Legal Services for providing us an updated list of the Justice Courts that do charge this additional fee.
